Change This

I am a regular reader of the manifestos, presentations, and other material posted at changethis.com. Right now they are offering a free copy of Seth Godin’s “Bootstrapper’s Bible“. They have also converted Joel Spolsky‘s classic “Strategy Letter #1” to their format, and you can get it here.

After some deliberation, I have decided that I actually like the presentation-style format at Change This. They are easy to read, informative, and to the point.

I love PDF for documents that I will print, but I find that they can be hard to read when used for academic papers arranged in 2 column format. Emulating a printed page doesn’t work unless you can see the entire page at once. Otherwise, there’s way too much scrolling. Add to that the fact that the Acrobat reader still doesn’t allow keyboard-driven scrolling using the space bar, and the overall onscreen reading experience is definitely sub-optimal.

I have been mulling over the issues discussed in Joel’s strategy letter, and I will have more to say about that in the near future. Ah, tough decisions!
