WordPress Rocks!

You can tell a good tool from a bad tool by using it.

I’ve been a would-be blogger for a long time; I’ve used several online tools and several that I ran locally. Until now, I’ve felt stilted and constrained by the tools.

Sunday night I installed WordPress during a lull in the Olympics and I now have the tool of my dreams. The interesting thing is that it is not that much different from its predecessors, but it smoothes out just enough rough edges to make the blogging process seemingly effortless. As you can tell by the number of posts I’ve made in the first couple of days, things are working out well.

There’s also a well developed extensibility model for WordPress. I’ll have to try out some of the add-ins and I may even write one myself. I don’t have time to link them, but I do keep a list of what I have found at http://del.icio.us/jeffbarr/wordpress.

You haven’t heard the last of me!
